History
Some of our products and services, like the My Yacht, are absolute inovations in our market and reflect our permanent effort of leadership and improvement.
Our Member's Club is a fractional sailing system unique to Portugal. Lauchend in May 2010, it allows you to benefit from a sailing boat for the equivalent price of a mooring. We are also the first company to have created specific products for the "experience market". Sailing Baptisms, the famous "Romantic Cruise" (now also in its VIP version) Go Sailing and Learn to Sail. In 2010 we were also the first to lauch our own "Gift Boxes". In 2011 we launched our "Flexible Outings" a system that allows our student sto keep on sailing with total flexibility.
In 2012 we open new facilities with a new shop in our Base Marina, Oeiras. This has allowed us space to open a small chandlery providing services for passing and resident boats.
2013 starts with an important step . recognition from the RYA to teach in Lisbon the top sailing and powerboating training scheme - RYA Sail Cruising Scheme e RYA Powerboating Scheme. A recognition that puts Lisbon and West Coast in the map of the best worldwide training centres, both for sailing and powerboating.
In 2014 we added new courses to our offer that include "Patrão de Costa" and other RYA recognized shorebased courses : Essential Navigation and Seamanship (online), Dayskipper Shorebased, Costal Skipper / Yachtmaster Shorebased, VHF-SRC (both classroom and online courses) and Professional Practices and Responsibilities (online).
In 2015 we reached recognition to teach RYA First Aid, a new short course adequa and a compulsory pre-requisite for the Yachtmaster exams.
In 2016 we lauched Patrão de Alto Mar, thus completing all training certifications within the portuguese certification scheme.
In 2017 we continued our permanent effort to introduce new courses with the new RYA Radar short course.
In 2018 we started the renovation of our fleet with a fantastic new Dufour 382 Grand Large. SY "PEARL" offers the most modern platform for our RYA courses. We have also expanded our offer for the portuguese certified courses with a nw location in Lisbona at "Marina Parque das Nações".

All our skippers are adequately trained, have wide experience and take pride in the impecable condition of all our boats. Instructing ability and a taste to share the pleasures of being on the water are fundamental characteristics for our instructors and team members. Álvaro Santos
Álvaro's professional experience as Lifeguard and "Rescue Diver" as well as firefighting make him a valuable resource in what concerns safety training. West Coast was his first choice to learn how to sail and 2 years later the transition from "student" to "instructor" occured naturally. Today Álvaro is responsible for our firefightin and Firt Aid modules within the portuguese certification scheme. Besides being a certified PADI / EFR (Emergency First Response) trainer, Álvaro is also an RYA First Aid Instructor and is responsible for running our "RYA First Aid at Sea" courses. A valuable asset in our traiing offer in the fields of safety and First Aid on board. | |

| André works full time and is involved in all daily tasks, is administration and shop but also maintenance. His large experience as a dinghy laser sailorand Optimist Coach are an important asset when supporting our students and clients, be it when advising the best training programe or on the best product choice in our shop. André is also an RYA powerboat isntructor an has been taking steps to become an RYA cruising instructor. Our Locations
Oeiras Yachting Harbor offers access to an outstanding water plan. It offers modern infrastructure with restaurants, shops, showers, parking and boatyard all in a stunning location between Lisbon and Cascais.Around the marina, you will find several high quality beaches, and ocean swimming-pool and a cycle path by the water.
Its strategic location at the mouth of the river Tagus allows you to experience the Atlantic or otherwise look for the more protected and tidal waters of the river.
It's proximity to Cascais and Lisbon (about 6nm each) as well as the quick exit towards the south for destinations like Sesimbra are also a solid advantage.

West Coast - Serviços e Eventos Náuticos Lda is a Maritime & Touristic Operator licensed by the "Tourism of Portugal Authority", a recreational boating Training Organization certified by DGRM (the portuguese Maritime Adminsitration) and a recognized Training centre by the RYA (Royal Yachting Association).The License Permit awarded under the "Touristic Animation Nacional Agents Registration" (Tourism of Portugal - RNAAT) means that our vessels are inspected annually, have all the safety equipment suitable for their comercial activity and the insurance coverage required by law is adequate and respects the law.
Certification granted by DGRM means also that our Recreational Boating School is allowed to teach the courses leading to a Portuguese Boating License (Basic, Local and Coastal and Ocean Skipper).
We have also the most prestigious recognition by the Royal Yachting Association that allows us to teach the schemes “Sail Cruising” (from Start Yachting to Yachtmaster) and “Powerboat” (Level 1 and Level 2).
Insurance
We work with the most prestigious interntional insurance company (Pantaenius) which offers the most comprehensive maritime coverage. For example, the minimum requirment in Portugal for civil liability in Portugal is 150 000 euros. Our coverage is 10 milhões de euros per boat.
Thefore, you cancount with the minimum coverage as below: Civil liability: 10 000 000 euros; Personal Accident: 60 000 euros;On each activity with our company, and in case you consider that the insurances coverage are not sufficient for your specific case, you may request specific additional coverages for your case.

Safety
We have and respect an internal “Safety Policy” according to international standards, that is known and respected by all our staff;; We train regularly emergency maneuvers like for example the man overboard and the use of the emergency wheel;;
We maintain a stable team of instructors and provide them with regular training, that includes the courses “Sea Survival” and “First Aid”. Annually we organize an internal training, with a theoretical and practical component, where we discuss issues related to safety at sea and our procedures; Our vessels are inspected annually by the local authorities (DGRM/Harbour Master) and also by a RYA inspector. We know that we can be inspected without notice at any moment; Our vessels have safety equipments always above to the minimums required by law. For example our boats, even the ones of coastal navigation, have liferafts; All vessels have automatic inflatable lifejackets with harness and lifeline. We wear and teach how to make proper use of lifejackets on board and it’s mandatory to use them. Our inflatable lifejackets are inspected annually by a certified service station; All our sailing vessels have lifelines installed and we make use of them;
All our vessels have systems to recover a person in case of a man overboard;; All our boats have fixed VHF with DSC; VWe check permanently the state of our gear in every single detail according to a preventive maintenance plan. This includes a regular inspection on rigging, stove inversion tests, revision of the inflatable lifejackets on a certified service station amongst others.Privacy Policy

Job opportunities at West Coast include administrative work (back office coordination of all our activities from our shop at Oeiras Marina), maintenance of our boats and facilities as well as taking responsibility as instructor in our training sailing and powerboat course, skipper de transportes de barcos (à vela ou a motor), skipper em eventos empresariais ou passeios à vela ou ainda formador nos nossos cursos de Cartas de Navegador de Recreio e/ou RYA Training.

| Our instructors train more than 700 students every year from eginners to professionals in the recreational boating industry. All of this with international recognition granted by the RYA and with wide opportunities to for continuous professional development. | Comunications with our clients including management of our social networks, website development and maintenance, emailing, participation in boat shows and management of all our comunication channels and marketing tools. | One of the critical tasks of our operation - make sure that all the backoffice management runs smoothly. This includes bookings and enrolments in courses, payments, supporting the instructors and all remaining administrative tasks. |
